This is done by first placing a layer of cellulose nitrate over a substrate and then heating it. The heating process causes the cellulose nitrate to react with moisture in the air, softening it and allowing it to flow into whatever bumps or depressions may have been created on the surface of the substrate. Once this process is complete, another layer of cellulose nitrate is placed over the first layer and heated again to form another depression or bump
